Sony has now released update 4.76 for the PS3 console. It is available to download right now. PS3 update 4.76 requires 200MB of space and is available right now. The patch note says the only thing that it adds is system software stability and nothing else more. You may have to download and install this update first if you want to visit the PlayStation Store or are going to play online. 200MB is not that large so you won’t have to wait too long for it to be installed on your system. It will be interesting to see how much longer Sony will continue to support the PS3.

The console is still used by a large group of people, although many gamers are starting to migrate to the newer PS4 console already. Developers and publishers seem to be abandoning the PS3 already. It wasn’t too long ago that Warner Bros. Decided to cancel the last-gen version of Mortal Kombat X because it wasn’t up to par with the current-gen version. Not to mention many of Sony’s upcoming games will be PS4 exclusives. The likes of The Last Guardian and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End are PS4 exclusives. Really, there is still a ton of JRPG’S and other Japanese games coming out all the time.
PS3 has a huge audience, it was the same with the ps1 and 2, they kept making games even though the newer consoles came out. Not everyone has a ps4, Xbox one or a cutting edge pc so it makes perfect sense to keep releasing games if there is demand. I still use my ps3, I have a back catalogue and the media features are outstanding. Ps3 will play pretty much any format and you can stick any storage device into it. I regret that I didn’t complete Ni No Kuni, guess il have to bring it with me and neek it out after freshers at uni. If I can pick up an Xbox one for around £200 I will, considering it has backwards compatability for the majority of 360 exclusives and they are cheap now.
Do you need Gold to use this feature? If there will be a PS5 hopefully it wont be for ages yet it’s only 2 years into the ps4 meanwhile all we are getting is remakes of PS3 games and we haven’t seen developers properly push the console, when they do and we start seeing a strain in Graphics which won’t be for years yet then it will be time for them to move on if it happens that is, if they had just made the damn thing compatible with previous releases then they could turn their focuses off remakes and solely focus on games we have never seen before what they are supposed to do you.
